Hey Everyone!

My name is Gretchen Zwiegers, founder and owner of

 

I finished my Diploma in Fashion Design at Elizabeth Galloway in December 2020 and started developing this brand in my last year for our business subject. Since then I have drawn all the patterns by myself, designed all garments and I'm also the brand’s photographer, loving every moment of bringing garments to live in photoshoots.

The idea of studying fashion actually started at a young age of 19, while I was doing a gap year. Since I was little, dressing plain was never an option. I always had the urge to mix and match clothes or wear something completely different, all due to having the art genes of the family. This was also the main reason I started sewing my own clothes, due to struggling to find clothes in the shops that were my style. I have a long story of how I eventually ended up studying for my diploma in Fashion Design, but I am grateful for the adventure and all the people, friends and acquaintances who had an influence on my journey.

The brand’s name originates from my nickname, “Grietjie’’, from the fairytale, Hansel and Gretal. Since I was a baby everyone called me ‘’Grietjie’’ and I wanted to give my brand a special and personal touch.

This brand is very much near my heart. I aim to design garments that are special, unique and versatile. I want to be part of the fashion industry that has a meaning, making purchasing a garment something worthwhile and even something that can be passed on to a friend or family.
